Privacy Policy

1. Overview

SearchCleaner (“we”, “the Service”) is a Chrome extension that filters search results on Google Search. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Search result content (transient)

When you perform a search, the extension sends the title, snippet, and URL of each search result, together with your immediate search query, to our judgment server for AI-based spam detection. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers beyond a temporary cache used solely to reduce duplicate processing costs.

2.2 Cache data

Search results that the AI classifies as “hide” are cached for up to 6 hours using a SHA-256 hash of the URL. This cache contains: URL hash, domain, verdict, and timestamp. No personally identifiable information is stored.

2.3 IP address (hashed)

We collect a SHA-256 hash of your IP address solely for rate limiting (preventing API abuse). The raw IP address is never stored. The hashed value is retained for 24 hours and then automatically deleted.

2.4 Subscription data (Premium users only)

For Premium subscribers, we store: email address, subscription status, billing period, and Lemon Squeezy customer ID. Payment card details are NEVER stored on our servers — they are handled exclusively by Lemon Squeezy and Stripe.

2.5 What we do NOT collect

• Browsing history outside of search results
• Personal identification information beyond email
• Cookies or tracking pixels
• Analytics tied to individual users

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide AI-based spam filtering on your search results
• To prevent abuse via per-IP rate limiting
• To process Premium subscriptions and provide customer support
• To improve the AI prompt based on aggregate patterns (no individual data)

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Anthropic Claude API — search result content is sent to Anthropic for AI judgment. Anthropic’s privacy policy applies. They do not retain or train on this data per their API terms.
• Supabase — backend infrastructure (database, edge functions). Hosted in Seoul region.
• Lemon Squeezy — payment processing. Handles all billing data.
• Stripe — payout processing for the operator.
• Vercel — landing page hosting.

4.5 Trademark Notice

Google and all other product names mentioned are trademarks of their respective owners. SearchCleaner is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC or any other mentioned entity.

5. Data Retention

• Hide-verdict cache: 6 hours
• Rate-limit hashes: 24 hours
• Subscription data: duration of subscription + 30 days after cancellation
• Email (for Premium users): until account deletion request

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of your subscription data
• Request deletion of your subscription account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent and uninstall the extension at any time

7. Children’s Privacy

SearchCleaner is not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email (for Premium users) or via the extension popup.
